Private practice was general, including corporate, business, municipal, real estate, contracts, collective bargaining, pension trusts, personal injury, estate planning, domestic relations, probate and trial practice. Most of the trial practice involved all types of personal injury claims, including claims arising out of construction, motor vehicles, products liability, medical malpractice, general liability, errors and omissions of brokers and eminent domain. As counsel for the New Bedford Redevelopment Authority I was responsible for the taking of over 1000 parcels of land, and the trial of those whose value was disputed, preparation of documents for public bidding for the demolition of buildings and the construction of roads and the sale of real property. Court trials as a judge include all types of criminal and civil cases, with and without juries.

EXPERIENCE:

Court Appointed Arbitrator, Mediator and Special Master; handles all mediation for the Massachusetts Appeals Court involving civil cases appealed from Barnstable, Bristol and Plymouth counties. (1993 to present). Consulting for attorneys. (1993 to present). Justice, Superior Court. (1979-1992). Justice, Third District Court of Bristol (New Bedford). (1974-1979). Counsel for Southeastern Massachusetts University for seven years. Chief Legal Counsel, New Bedford Redevelopment Authority for seven years. Assistant District Attorney, Bristol County. Special Assistant Attorney General. Judicial Clerk to Justice Raymond S. Wilkins, Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

POST RETIREMENT EXPERIENCE:

Court appointed arbitrator, mediator and special master; including that of discovery master in complex litigation, by the Superior Court; Appeals Court conciliator; Private arbitration and mediation of personal injury claims, building construction, landlord and tenant disputes and medical malpractice claims; Consulting for attorneys representing plaintiffs and attorneys representing defendants.

Presently in Rochester, member of Planning Board, (Formerly on Council on Aging, Historic District Commission, and Cable Advisory Committee.)
